My Pet Starfish - Dorothy

Yesterday marked the day of my grandpa and ma finally together after 17 years apart. They were buried next to each other.

The whole family were so emotional when saying our final goodbyes to him. I think I was torn in between tears and relief knowing that he's in a better place now. He told his nurse a few days before he passed away that he's going to somewhere cold and beautiful. I think he knows that he's going to heaven. He told the maids that he's going to sleep at 6 something in the evening. He lasted till 7 plus before taking his last breath. I'm so proud of him.

During CNY, we weren't expecting many guests as it's a taboo to attend funerals during CNY. Mostly for people who 'pantang' and gambles. We really appreciate the people that came by anyway. People who didn't, we totally understand why you can't.

The 4 generation of Wongs is enough to fill up the whole bungalow. It hardly felt like a quiet funeral.

Thanks again for all your kind wishes.

On a happier note, I found a picture of my pet starfish when I was living in the UK. Her name was Dorothy. I'm not sure if she's still alive now. I left her with my ex. I mean, how do I exactly transport her back to Malaysia with me? Salty fish tanks are hard to maintain.

He Was A Fighter

My grandpa just passed a way a few hours ago. He's the last grand parent I have.

I stayed with him when I was little. So, I think I know a lot about him. Well, in my own way at least. Up till my parents separated and we drifted apart, I was pretty close to him when I was still living with him. My grandpa is the strongest man I know. Here's what I remember about him:

One of the most hardworking people I know.
He was the healthiest person I know (up till beginning of last year).
He easily do a 100 sit-ups a day before his legs failed on him. Who does that? Even my dad doesn't do that. He had abs for as far as I can remember.
He jogs around his big house in his singlet and boxers every single morning since my existence.
He loves gardening. He planted rambutan and mango trees in the garden of his bangalow (please bear in mind that he lives in the heart of PJ). His house was like a mini jungle - in the city.
He always eat those colourful little jellies and Popsicle after gardening. That made me a happy kid cos his fridge is forever loaded with all these goodies.
He loves goldfish. He dug a little stream around the house (literally one round) for his fishes to swim around. I used to barbeque his goldfishes when I was in primary school.
He hates eating sweet potatoes.
He loves to reconstruct his house on his own. So his house looked a little deformed but I must say, he did a pretty decent job for someone who didn't get any training in construction.
He loves my grandma a lot. I remembered him getting nagged by her day and night yet, he'll never shout at her or be disrespectful even though she's the housewife and he's the breadwinner.
He's a peaceful person. He doesn't pick fights or nag.
He's good with his money - I wish I've inherited that part of him. He's really sensible when it comes to that.

Finally, he has reunited with my grandma. I wasn't there to see him take his last breath but my cousin told me that, he fought back every time his heart stopped beating. On the 3rd time, he passed.

He's a fighter. He lasted this long because of his strong-willed personality.

I was brawling when I saw him just now. I couldn't help it. I thought I'd be fine with him leaving us since he's really old now and he will not be suffering any longer. I was wrong.

All the memories of when I was young and he held my hand to take me and my sisters for dinner when parents were at work came back to me. He loves us although, he never says it. He's always the tough guy.

I love you gong, you may not know it and I've never said it to you but please know that I have the biggest respect for you and I'll always remember you at your best. When you were healthy, strong and mighty.

I'm back home now to pack and will be heading back to the office tomorrow morning to hand over my work before attending the mourning/funeral at his house. He wanted a Hokkien funeral, he said that a couple of days ago. I guess he knew he was going to leave us soon. I was told Hokkien funerals last up to 7 days.

I'm happy that everyone went back to see him yesterday and he get to spend CNY with the entire family for one last time.

Thanks for the wishes everyone. This post is for me to remember how I felt at this moment.

I went to the Temple : Happy Chinese New Year 2012

Hey Y'all,

The year don't really start till after Chinese New Year does it? Haha!

Well, at least for me. I do not necessary have the most Chinese family traditions, but we do celebrate Chinese New Year to a certain extent.

I was born into a Buddhist family so in my IC I'm a Buddhist. However, a couple of years ago I somehow lost faith and decided that religion is good for nothing. And since then, I don't pray or even believe anymore.

However when I went to Chiang Mai for my company trip few weeks ago, I decided that hey we should totally visit the temple. And so we did.

It was really spiritual. I never thought that I'd ever want to enter a temple again (not by choice at least) but I did and I was really glad I went there.

It was recommended by the locals and apparently it's one of the best temple in town.

It was huge.

That concludes my trip to the temple. Like I said I'm not religious, but I do believe that Buddhism is more of a way of life than a religion. I believe in karma and doing good things to other people.

Siripanna Resort & Spa Chiang Mai : Paddy Planting

Hello All!

I recently went to Chiang Mai for my company trip. BEST TRIP in 2012! Well it's only January! Haha! What a way to start the year. 2012 is definitely going to be a good year.

I'd love to just blog about the whole trip in one post but I wouldn't want to miss anything out.

Our first day was hectic. I got on the plane at 6.55am. I left my house at 4am in order to make it for the check-in, baggage drop off etc.

I literally didn't sleep all night till I get on the plane. 3 hours later, we landed in Chiang Mai. I imagined the place to be more ulu. So, I was pretty impressed that they have a decent airport. Like a proper concrete one. Entirely different from the one at Koh Samui.

Once I got there, I met Elisa (Singapore HR Exec) to coordinate the Nuffies for the activities that were planned for us.

Elisa was right, it's really a resort in the city. Except that you won't feel the city when you're in the resort.

After the ice breaking games, the event coordinator from Siripanna ushered us to a secluded part of the resort to play games.

For the first time in my life, I "planted" rice!

Let's take a tour, shall we?

I must say that Thailand is really a spiritual place. It's almost always so peaceful. (I haven't been to Bangkok, so won't comment on that but Koh Samui was really quiet too.)

I can't remember if they called this place Panna House or something.

The only two HR Execs in the Region. Elisa is half Thai (I now officially have 3 half Thai friends! Whee!) so it's really nice to have her take me around since she can converse in Thai! It's so cool to hear her speak!

I've never been this close to a real Scarecrow before in my life. It was cute!

My Team Mates - Ming & Tim (Co-Founders of Nuffnang), Huiwen (Singapore Country Manager), Elisa and Latif (Malaysia Web Developer). Having the bosses in my team definitely made me more nervous. Nonetheless, I wouldn't exchange my team mates for anybody else! :)

Latif got his game face on! Rule of the game is that we work as a team to plant rice. We were judged on the consistency and the tidiness of the rice/grass/paddy (I don't know what to call that - the green thingy la) when we stick it into the mud.

Mimi Pie's 2012 New Year's Resolution

I was looking at my 2011 New Year's Resolutions and I'm madly proud to say I managed to stick to most of it!

The summary of my resolutions last year. I've crossed out those I've accomplished:

1. I think being quarter of the century old made me wanna focus more on my career for this coming year. For whatever it will be, I want to do my best in it. (I honestly think I already started this before 2011 with the good feedback from my superiors at this current job :) )

~~2. Put a lot of make up. I'll explain this on another blog post.~~

~~3. Throw out all the old shoes that I really won't wear anymore.~~

~~4. Stick to the plan - for long enough at least.~~

5. Love my body. I think I've embraced my body, the stretch marks, scars and everything that's on my body. Fats. Haha. I was thinking about this for a while now, how all these years I didn't love myself enough and destroy what my parents gave me. Good genes and a healthy body. I need to be nicer to my skin. Ahhh and yes...

~~6. Be less of a klutz.~~

7. Budget. I thought I'll never need to have this in my Resolutions. But hey, 2011 is all about money and career man.

~~8. Travel as much as I can. Hopefully my job will let me do so..~~

~~9. Live how I want to live. Everyday can be a happy day if we just do what we like. Job included.~~

~~10. Detachment. With things I don't love. I think I'm already pretty good at that! Remember, there's no need for one to put up with things that make them unhappy.~~

Okay so the only one thing that I can't stick to is sticking to my budget. Sigh. Will try harder this year.

Oh almost forgotten to mention that - CLOSE SHOP THEORY was a success for me. I managed to celibate for a year! #win

Yes, it's open now but I'm not just gonna sleep with anyone or everyone. Never have, never will.

Okay. So what's my 2012 resolutions. It took me a while to decide actually. I want to set realistic goals that I can achieve and stick to.

Here goes:

Sticking to my budget. This year I'm getting Angie my lover + personal financial planner to help me stick to my budget.
Spend more time with my family. Nothing is more important than my family.
Continue to do well at work. Keep learning and improving.
See friends that I haven't seen for ages. Make time for them.
Travel travel travel, whenever possible as always. I need at least 4 holidays a year. 2011 proved that it can be done.
Care less about things that doesn't affect my life and if it does, eliminate it. Yes as mentioned before I'm pretty good at detachments.
Try to be less bitchy. It's in my nature but maybe I need to tone it down a little.
Be more thankful. I realised that in 2011, plenty of good things happened to me but I complained a lot and felt miserable all the time. It's time to be more thankful.
Out with all the material stuff. I'll still buy whatever I like but if you ask me a branded bag just won't do anymore. I want real things in life. I'm happy that I have a car of my own. Time to start saving for a nice little apartment.
Colour my hair less and try not to get a haircut unless it's absolutely necessary. I need my hair to reach below my boobies by end of this year.
Wear rubberbands for braces so that I can get my braces removed before August 2012!

Okay 11 only for now. I'm heading out to meet some old friends I haven't met for at least 6 months.

Thanks for reading my blog. I don't blog as interestingly as I used to anymore but I'll work on that. Still not sure if I want my life to be read like an open book. I did not have good experience with that.

My Secret Santee was Eric. I was jumping for joy when I saw him. For the longest time I was cracking my head not knowing what to get him, despite stalking his FB, Blog, Twitter etc. Then I dragged Timo along to help choose Eric's gifts. The budget for this year's Secret Santa is RM100.

Wedding Bells @ Duchess Place & Berjaya Hotel & Resort

I'm sure most of you remembered that I was engaged last year. The plan was to get married in 2011.

Of course that didn't happen. Otherwise, how else am I going to have such a fantastic time this year? *singing the Single Ladies

This year was such a great year (unknowingly to me until I really thought about it yesterday). I gotta admit that I felt miserable almost all year. But I guess that's my withdrawal syndrome from my life in the UK and also English Breakfast. Nothing that cannot be fixed with great breakfast place like Blue Cow in Mont Kiara. However, a even larger paycheck might be helpful. Haha!

I know I've said this many times before but I think I've crossed out almost everything on my bucket list already since 2010. Then the unexpected happened. I managed to do all the things that wasn't on my list but I've always wanted to do and beyond this year.

Ahh! :) Lucky lucky me!

So back to the Weddings that I've attended this year. To be really honest, I hardly snapped any photos for both the weddings I've attended cos I know I'll have a hard time editing them and also, there's just too much going on this month.

I'm already regretting it.

My cousin, Jen May's wedding. I've borrowed this picture from her FB album. They are madly compatible. Jen May used to be much chubbier but now she's FIT!

I met all my old college mate. It was really nice seeing everyone suited up. This was probably the one place guys can't pick girls up with the, "I'm a lawyer." line cos we had a room full of lawyers.

The only other person I took a photo with was Aric Wong. Another lawyer who's cute and everything. I met him way before law school. We were both the Cover Girl & Boy of the MYC! News magazine on the same year back then.

After the wedding, Poles, Cyn and I decided to head to Alexis for some weird Ukrainian-Polish jazz music. I loved it there. It's so different from the Gardens and Bangsar outlet. I'll be back.

That's all about the wedding for now. Will be blogging about the Blog Awards and everything that comes with it next.

Last wedding of the year would be Kham's (my colleague) wedding on NYE!

The Layan Christmas Post!

Obviously I was going to start my post with an apology! Haha!

With all that has been going on in the crazy month of December, it's really impossible for me to squeeze time to blog. Yeah! Not even scheduled blog posts.

Anyway, at the final week of November 2011, I was having panic attacks knowing that I'll have event after event and wedding after wedding to attend.

Just to showcase my culinary skills, I present to you my latest Apple Salad.

I was asked to toss the apple salad but I took it to another level. *doing the fuck yea action*

Linda and Wendy were totally weirded out by my recipe.

Instead of just mayo and apple cubes, I added fried garlic. It's so good. Hmmmmm!

Okay anyway, last week during the long weekend, Linda decided to host a BBQ at hers. Quite fun to BBQ in the rain actually.

To be blatantly honest, I love cooking. I cook a lot when I was in the UK but since I got back, I can't be bothered. It's easier to just let my maid do it.

My Braces : The Super Vain Post

I won't be posting about Sara's birthday just yet.

This post is about my braces and how it has changed my face.

My gums are super sore today from my dentist appointment yesterday. Dr. Khaw changed my wires yesterday and tighten the braces. So much pain.

But after seeing this picture below, I think all the pain and money is worth it.

My mouth is less full now and I don't look like a monkey from the side profile anymore. Whee!

I actually think my nose looked even higher with my mouth going in.

Free plastic surgery wtf!

I still have gaps between my teeth, so by middle of next year, my mouth will go in more.

Wonder how I'd look like then. :-S

I started the evening tonight wanting to stab someone in the face.

I think it's true that when people grow up, you just start thinking rationally. In the past, I probably would have blown my top.

My anger don't last long these days. I just express my feelings and kinda stop after that. Having great people around me helped. Kinda realised that it doesn't really affect or change my life anyway. I am still just as contented and am doing stuff that I usually do anyway. Like I said, nothing really upset me these days.

We went for dinner at Lind's.

Nothing fancy. Just some takeaway, Linds' homemade soup and some great company.

Oh and yes, Chatime too!

Ya we tapaoed McD's also.

As much as I hate playing board games, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Gift Trap. This game was introduced by Linds and yea, it's fun if you're playing with people you're close with. It will definitely test your understanding of other players you're playing this game with.

That being said, just as you think you know the other players well enough, you're in for a pleasant surprise!

This game is so cute. By default everyone knew Pink was my colour.

I think in many ways, this game can actually send a really good message to the person who tried upsetting me today.

No matter how long you've known a person, it doesn't mean that you'll know them well enough to know what they want. Let alone if you've only known that person for a couple of months.

Never ever think that you know someone well enough to make a decision for them or tell them what they are thinking.

Basic respect, hello.

Congratulations to my lil baby bro - Peter!

Finally a lawyer. We are super proud of him. Out of us lot who stayed together like a family in the UK, he's the only one who pursued it all the way.

Determination definitely paid off.

Love you lil bro. He's going to be a great lawyer. A kind one.

We met up for dinner at Lot 10. Love that place. It's always our meet up point for dinner. It's in between where Poles, Peter and I work.

I miss the roast duck in UK. Malaysian ducks are skinny.

We had such a fantastic time chatting and reminiscing tonight over dinner and Snowflake (haven't had that in ages). It was just great.

Really got to make it a point to see them more often.

Positive Thinking

It's almost unbelievable how hardworking I am in updating my blog lately.

Min said it must be because I want to be part of the nominated bloggers for the coming Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards 2011 #NAPBAS.

Eh, no la. Although I'm really excited about the blog awards that I've been reading about since my uni days in the UK.

Today's bootcamp sucked. My body and mind is so psyched for the training and workout but because of all the medication I've been taking, my head was spinnin' non stop. I'm never usually a quitter but I think I need a break from it.

Sucks I know. I enjoy running a lot. I feel good when I run. My team mate and I won some of the challenges actually. I think running has never been a problem for me but all the other stuff, I just can't do them today.

My gastric problems aren't going away. I'm too scared to go get scanned. For some reason, I know I'm not a fighter when it comes to surviving (that's a story for another day). So whatever will be, will be.

Went for Satay at Uptown with V. I miss having my best friend back.

I feel like I've been blessed with so many good people in my life. I need to start feeling more thankful.

This year, realisticly, it has been a really good year for me. Got a job I love, went for Michael Buble concert and get to meet all the Chelsea players in person. Three things that I can cross out from my bucket list.

I'm almost done crossing out everything on my bucket list. I might have to start looking for new things to add on to my list or my life will simply not going to mean anything after this.

V and I promised each other that we will embrace more positive energy to our life starting 2012. It's about time. I want it to feel like a good year. Not just realisticly a good year like this year.

We will be heading to the woods to do some meditation soon. Oh did I mention, my best friend is a hippie.

Hopefully this time next year, I'll tell you about how much everything have changed for the better.

I'm sure you noticed that I've been blogging more lately.

The truth is that I've been nagged pretty badly. (you know who you are!!!)

So I kinda cheated. I usually blog a few post at one go and schedule them to be published from time to time.

Well content is still original right....at least I blog.

I'm trying to open up again by blogging a little bit more now. It's been a year since I broke up with the ex. I guess it's really time to move on.

I've been drowning myself from work all year round that I just kinda forgotten that I need to grieve properly and have that closure to finally move on.

Oh don't get me wrong. I don't love him anymore but perhaps my trip to Koh Samui gave me a wake up call. I realized that I never really moved on from the pain until now.

I kinda just blocked everything out.

My trip made me realized that I not only compare the person I went with with my ex but in fact it made me question everything he does.

Why is he so nice to me?

Is he going to turn out to be another asshole again?

You know what, fuck that. I don't need a guy to make me happy.

And that was the spirit I've been living in for the last 12 months. I don't know when I can ever be vulnerable again but I see the problem.

I guess I need to learn how to trust and take that risk again.

I'm not ready yet.

I'm just not.

Weekend

Yay to the weekend again.

Fortune + misfortune, I only worked for 2 days this week. Felt like a short but long week.

Damn contradicting I know. So much has happened but I don't think it's fit for me to share them here.

Last night Timo bought all of us Karaoke at Redbox to celebrate my 16th Birthday. I swear I have the best colleagues in the world. <3

Linds, Wends and Sara bought me a perfume called Mimi. Super random but mad thoughtful.

I wish I'm a thoughtful person sometimes. But I'm totally not even though I try my hardest to be. Well, to the people I care for at least.

Ahh getting older again. Somehow the impact I got from when I turned 24 was way bigger than turning 26. Maybe I'm slowly crawling out of denial that I'm no longer a fresh grad. Muahaha!

After hiring more than 15 new staff in the office who were either born in the late 80s or early 90s, I do feel old sometimes.

I'd still wear neon colours though. Don't judge okay.

Long Lost Feelings

Feelings.

Something I haven't discussed in my blog for a long time now.

What am I afraid of? Nothing.

I fear of nothing.

I kept myself away from my blog for a long time now. Although it was partially intentional, I somehow forgotten when was the last time I was truly happy or truly sad.

Sounds miserable huh?

The truth is probably because I'm almost completely numb from feeling anything anymore. I don't know how to feel really happy or really sad now.

The closest I have to feeling anything would probably be anger. And even that, it doesn't last for long.

I feel numb.

Maybe I've grown up.

Maybe I've gone through so much that nothing can now make me feel the happiness or sadness that I once felt.

Nothing impresses me.

Nothing can knock me down anymore.

I'm on a flat surface where I'm safe.

My Surprise Birthday Cake

After reaching Subang airport from my birthday trip at Koh Samui, I was exhausted.

The gastric and everything didn't help. I went to the doctor on my birthday to get myself checked.

To be honest, it wasn't effective at all. I'm still having that lingering pain in my stomach.

The first thing I did when I got back was to see the doctor, unpack, have a quick dinner and look at all the pictures taken during the trip. I was tired, sticky and feeling really down. I was suppose to meet up with my best friend V, but I decided to stay in to rest instead.

At 9.30pm I got a BBM message from Maren asking me to go Chatime. I thought I should force myself to go out since it's MY birthday after all. I asked her who else was going and she said only Tim and herself. So I preempted her that I have no make up and will not be dressing up cos I was too tired.

So around 10pm, she called to say she had arrived at mine. As soon as I got out of my gate, Yuen and Pinky was there holding my Birthday cake!

They all screamed, "SURPRISE!!!!"

Oh I was surprised alright! Haha! Who'd have thought at the end of the day I'll get a surprise from my dearest colleagues?!

The first thing that came to my mind was my outfit. I was wearing my old uni t-shirt and some khaki shorts. FML.

I was filmed as well!

They asked me to make a wish but all I can think of was my outfit, so I panicked!

Hahaha!

I love you guys to bits!

Although I keep telling them I'm 16 this year, Maren insisted that I was 21 years old.

I have the most wonderful colleagues. I know it sounded really cheesy but how many of you can say the same?

They play such a big part in my working and personal life. I don't think I can ever imagine my life without them now.

This was my first time dining at Plan B, Bangsar Village. Something I'd really like to highlight is their great service. I can't say this often these days. But seriously, it was worth mentioning. They were polite, courteous and fast. The food was good as well.

Oh yeah, btw I had my hair extensions done AGAIN! I change my hair colour/style every month but I think I'm going to stick to this one till 2012!

I'm currently bedridden with a bad gastric. So I thought hey, I should totally blog since my body can't move too much without causing me too much pain anyway. My fingers on the other hand are fine. I'll just type away.

We were pretty excited before we met and when we finally did, we couldn't stop talking. We had a pretty good time at Fat Spoon.

The best thing is that they have a good variety of desserts. Yes, I've got a sweet tooth!

Starbucks is totally making me fat and poor but I'm such a sucker to good coffee dammit. Oh fine, it's "okay" coffee. Not that fantastic but it's really super convenient and it's everywhere. My favourite coffee is still Dr. Cafe at Solaris.

This weekend I've started receiving gifts for my birthday. I'm so happy. Everyone love gifts don't they?

Work starts again tomorrow. Can't wait. There's so much to do that it got me quite excited to go back wtf.

I'm in dire need of a wardrobe makeover. I need new clothes!

Long Time

I hate to start my blog post with an apology every time I blog but it's been a long long week.

Everyone in the office is falling ill..and knowing my immune system, I'm definitely gonna be the next one on the list.

So, how's your Saturday so far?

I got up around 3pm today. All the Nuffies went to Neverland yesterday. I had a decent time at the launch. Not sure if it's my thing but if you like live music on a pretty impressive stage with loads of sexy dancers, that's totally your place to be.

I'm dying for nice Cocktails. Only when I'm feeling better again though. I hate the feeling of being on the verge of falling ill.

My mom said I'm not that fat anymore but she said that I'm still quite flabby. Not sure how I can work on my fitness with my nose running. The funny thing with my cold is that it comes and goes. Maybe a good run can make me feel better.

I love the rain. It's been raining so much lately and I hate to admit it but I love the gloomy weather sometimes.

Holiday. I don't think I have that much annual leave left to utilize. But I really wanna go on a holiday. I think I'll go somewhere for my birthday. That'd be the best gift ever.

Ah talking about my birthday, like every year, I'll have my wishlist up here as soon as November comes! Whee!

I'm getting older and I don't get IDed anymore when I go to clubs or casinos lol So unlike when I was still in the UK. Asian girls always looked younger anyway! :)

I'm still aspiring to be a MILF so, I'll try to grow old more gracefully and have less late nights.

Don't know what the hype is all about?

MasterChef is a worldwide phenomenon. A cooking reality show, that although doesn’t allow viewers to vote, has still broken viewership records in US and Australia. MasterChef is a success because not only is Food something we are all very passionate about but the show only allows amateur cooks to compete. Malaysians who love cooking but never had a chance to really showcase their skills and be appreciated, now get the opportunity!

The show have inspired me to put my culinary skill to test in many ways. I personally love this dish that one of my ex boyfriend taught me.

I cooked it better than he did. *proud

Here's the recipe!

Ingredients:

Shredded Cheese
2 Breast Fillet
1 can of Pineapple in Syrup
Pork Bacon
Asparagus

Step 1:
Slice chicken fillet in to smaller pieces.

Step 2:
Stuff cheese on the chicken fillet and wrap bacon around each chicken fillet.

Step 3:
Place pieces of pineapple onto chicken and drown the chicken in the pineapple syrup.

Step 4:
Pop tray into oven. Temperature 200 degrees Celsius for 20 mins.

Step 5:
While waiting, pop Asparagus in boiling salted water for 10 mins.

Step 6:
All ready!

I actually enjoy cooking a lot and this meal was prepared in less than an hour. It's really delicious and healthy too. No oil and no flavouring at all.

Hey everyone,

Last week I had the weekly blues after the holidays. So, I sort of forgotten to blog.

Last night was fun. Linda, Sara and Wendy came to join us for Karaoke. Man, do I love singing. I have such loud voice though. Haha! It can be embarrassing sometimes but I CAN'T HELP IT! Blame my lungs!

This week really felt like a long week. While I have no problems meeting deadlines, I utterly dislike it. Maybe that's why I love my current position so much more. I no longer have unreasonable deadlines. Being a Human Resource Executive is not exactly the easiest job in the world but for what it's worth, I have mostly very cooperative colleagues.

I recently started buying Self-Improvement books after my our Country Manager suggested that I should check out some books about Human Resource. Already bought 5 since last weekend. I happily finished the Human Resource Executive Manual which was really helpful and I'm in the middle of reading about NLP right now.

I didn't know that the world outside a Law Degree can be this interesting...No, seriously. I know a lot about customer service, managing people, the law, event organising and all that shit but seriously, I was like a kid in the toy shop when I found out that we can literally learn anything just by taking a trip down to the bookstore.

So needless to say, I've picked up reading again. My dad suggested that I buy e-books instead but nothing can replace the smell of paper and holding the book in my hand. Yeah, sure you can learn anything these days by going on the internet but it's different. I can't explain that but I'm sure some of you feel the same way as I do about books!

Okay I'm going to continue my Saturday.

In office now, waiting for 11pm to come.

We're heading to Zouk for Manbo Jambo tonight for the very first time. Malaysian, Singaporean and Hong Kong Nuffies whuddup!

We are gonna paint the town red on a Wednesday. We're a bunch of nut cases!

Just got home from Midvalley. Had Club Sandwich at Zouk Cafe with my bosses and colleagues from Hong Kong and Singapore.

Damn full. The Club Sandwich was meh. So irritated to put on weight cos of sucky food. Should have ordered pasta.

My mom was complaining about my contact lens. She said that I should get a pair of smaller diameter contacts, so that I won't look so scary wtf.

Fine. I shall get a pair with smaller diameter as soon as this one expires then.

I feel like a fat whale on my bed. I'm suppose to go shower after I finish blogging but I'm so sleepy it's not funny.

Long long week till the Ramadhan holidays next week. Whuddup!!

Okay off to shower and gonna hit the sack after.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (What made it worth watching!)

I never thought I'd say this but this film is absolutely brilliant.

Unlike the first movie, which was a disaster, Rise of the Planet of the Apes was made tastefully.

The story line was really good and it kept you interested from the beginning till the end.

Initially I've decided to give this movie a pass after I remembered how bad the first movie was. Thankfully, I've read some good reviews about it on Twitter and decided to give it a shot when my friend suggested this movie today.

I did not regret one bit. I hate movies with talking animals, it totally creeps me out but this movie really explained how the Planet of the Apes begins.

There were plenty of touching moments in the movie. Defining the relationship between a human and an animal where sometimes the love they have for each other can go way beyond just a pet and its master.

I actually came home and played with my husky for a while after watching this movie even though it's already so late. My dog must have been so lonely when we were all at work everyday. If only I can listen to his thoughts.

Ceasar. Coolest Ape ever wtf!

I've lost my faith long time ago. Longer than you can imagine.

Yet, in the midst of my misery I might have finally found myself again.

I think I know where I want to be in life now. In a way..

No more games. No more pondering.

I love myself enough to know that if you don't love yourself, nobody will.

Everyday is a learning process to me and I've been humbled by many brilliant people I've met.

For once I might just stick to it and gamble with that higher power.

I'm having mad period cramps + gastric. Not sure why on earth would both come at the same time.

It's so unfortunate that when I finally replaced my side mirror casing yesterday, only to be knocked out by a motorist in the middle of a busy street this morning.

Come to think about it even if it ain't busy, I probably wouldn't get down to pick it up anyway. Way too much work.

I've never heard of this show before till last week!!! How's that even possible?!?!

I'm a TV addict what can I say.

Think Desperate Housewives/Gossip Girl/OC.

OMG this show is the bomb!

It started with a murder mystery to solve.

4 hot girls + 1 dead hot girl. And a few hot guys.

Hanna, Emily, Aria and Spencer.

Spencer is my favourite character. I love her style in this TV show. Funny how I've never seen her before this.

Her real name is Troian Avery Bellisario.

I love how preppy she looked.

The whole world should totally dress like that.

Can't wait till my hair grow and I can wear my hair like that! :(

Zhuhai and Henan, China

After crossing the borders of Macau, we've reached Zhuhai, China.

This is my older sister, Melissa. If it wasn't her and her husband Jeff, we'd never visit this part of China.

Haha! Here she is all grumpy cos she's hungry.

At the border in Zhuhai. They have loads of cheap clothes and shoes but we didn't get to shop. We needed to rush down to Henan.

Jeff hired a driver to drive us down to Henan. It was approximately a 2 hours drive.

China is just so different. Even though it's just a stone throw away from Maca0.

Before heading to Henan, we stopped by for some famous Zhuhai fresh seafood.

I don't know what this is.

Finally arriving at our hotel. I honestly can't remember the name of our hotel but according to Jeff it's the best hotel in Henan. Google that okay.

The restaurant where we had our dinner. I find it a struggle when there's no signs in English. I'm honestly glad that I can at least speak Cantonese.

After the meal, we went back to the hotel for a hair wash and back rub. It was strongly recommended by Jeff. So we went for it.

The next morning was when I finally get to check out Henan from the hotel room.

Let me tell you, Henan is the dustiest place I've ever been too. There were construction sites everywhere.

I guess it's a developing town.

The suites aren't fantastic but it's pretty comfortable and clean.

It's way to big for 3 people though. Melissa and Jeff have their own room. We coulda share.

We had dim sum at the restaurant in the hotel for brunch before making our way back to Macau. It's Jeff's favourite dim sum place in town.

Some Nuffies gathered after dinner at Bedroom, Pavillion to have drinks and celebrate Linda's Birthday.

The food was awesome. I had Ceasar Salad for late dinner after rushing from an event at Sunway to KL to attend this.

I finally get the chance to doll up tonight!

I've been letting myself go lately cos I've been so busy but after tonight, I remembered why I always try to look my best when I get out of my house.

It's been a fulfilling week so far. I'm looking forward to a great weekend ahead.

Will be going to shop for some new clothes tomorrow with Maren and attend an event or two tomorrow evening.

I've learned a few things this week. People don't always say what you want to hear. And you don't always need to say what people want to hear. I'm just honest like that.

But some people might have mistaken my honesty as being bitchy.

Do I really care? No.

For those who didn't know, if I had to pick a football team to support it'd be Chelsea.

I think I was heavily influenced by my ex. He's a big Chelsea fan.

Chelsea is probably the only team I've heard so much about and I even know some of the players in the team. *proud wtf*

I used to regret not watching any Chelsea match in UK but I guess fate works in a funny way.

Thanks to Samsung Malaysia who brought me and a few other bloggers to watch the players train in VIP style.

And this was an opportunity of a life time for me. I didn't think it'd be possible to watch them train so closely considering that I'm now back in Malaysia. And all these didn't seem possible just 6 months ago when I realised that I'm gonna be back in Malaysia for a long time.

Even when I was in the UK, I didn't think it'd be possible for me to just watch them train. Period. What more, in VIP style..

The training session was held in Stadium Negara at Bukit Jalil.

I don't know how many men I've pissed off this year for telling them that I don't like the intensity in any sort of feelings. Be it in friendships or in relationships.

I don't think I know how men work anymore. Why are they so emotional? I may come across as shallow and irresponsible from wanting to run away from the big F word.

Honestly, I was in such a dark place in the past I'll never ever want to feel that way again.

If they can't understand, they just can't.

I'll just nod to make them think they are right since they refuse to understand that in my world, I'm just trying to protect myself.

INCUBUS AND ROSEVELT IN KL 2011

Close friends know that I only know songs that I listened on the radio. I'm a commercial junkie like that.

I never knew I know songs from Incubus until I was forced by the Nuffies to be "cooler" and to listen to "cooler" music wtf. Yeah, I actually know 2 Incubus songs okay..

I still insist that in my own world, I do have good taste in music. FTW!

There's so much to write about just this week alone. So, I've decided to post about Incubus first before I post about Chelsea and MTV World Stage as this would probably be the shortest event to post.

I just got home from MTV World Stage. Mad tired but so worth it.

I like Incubus and I'm really glad that Josh got me tickets for this gig. I've heard so much about Incubus but I haven't actually been to their concert before even though this is their 3rd time in Malaysia. They are not as heavy as I thought they would be. I enjoyed myself and would probably start listening to their music from now on.

Thanks to Tune Talk for bringing them down.

Apart from that, Rosevelt (Josh is a guitarist from Rosevelt) won the Tune Talk Incubus competition thingy and get to be the opening act for Incubus KL 2o11!

Now, how exciting is that?!

Josh is probably the biggest reason why I was there yesterday! LOL

I feel like a bad daughter today.

I reached home at 11pm from work. My mom was still up.

She just got home too. She is moving her business to another location and I'm not even available to help out with all my work commitments.

Sometimes I feel like just dropping everything to be a filial child and ease her burdens.

I love my mom so much. My heart aches sometimes to see her still working so hard at this age.

My mom looks young and she's beautiful but she's almost 50 now. It's easy to forget how old she is sometimes with her good looks.

I wish I can bring forward her retirement just so she can go on more holidays.

Sigh.

I went there a couple of weeks ago with two of my ex-housemates/besties. It's like a city of light there!

They have the biggest reptile collection in Malaysia. I'm not sure if there were entry charges or not but people sure seems to be enjoying themselves.

i-City is quite a nice place to take a stroll with the family. I almost feel really safe walking around there snapping pictures at the night sight.

Driving in might be a jam. You pay RM10.00 per car to enter the city. There were ample parking space in the parking lot but most people park by the road fearing that there won't be any parking space in there because of the jam.

If you're there, you should really just park inside. It's so much safer.

BERSIH : Our Voices Crippled.

Good Morning Sunday people,

I know most of my readers aren't Malaysian and I've always avoided any topics about politics on my blog.

But yesterday, people in my country had a peaceful rally to protest for a clean election, only to be harmed by the authorities even though they were unarmed. These were innocent people from different walks of life that came together to share a voice.

Were they heard?

I shed some tears when I saw a twitpic of a crippled man joining the rally. And of course, I felt useless sitting in front of my laptop refreshing my timeline over and over again to keep up with the news. Thanks to social media, my eyes were opened. I was so busy with work lately, I hardly have anytime to keep up with the news. I knew nothing about #Bersih till yesterday.

Yesterday I was chatting with my best friend who's currently residing in UK. She was up in the middle of the night (7 hours behind Malaysian time) to be on Twitter to keep up with the news on Bersih. She was even wearing a yellow top to show support to the people here. She was in her home and no one can see her but it really didn't stop her from wanting a better future for our country. It angered her. It angered all the Malaysians around the world.

Negaraku was sang loud and proud by thousands and thousands of Malaysians yesterday. It moved so many people. It moved me.

Many Malaysians were mistaken to hate our country and want to get outta here but really, it's not the country we hate. We just can't agree with the way it's being ruled thus far. I for one cannot agree. The people are getting more and more educated and but our country is not progressing as fast as its people.

The peaceful protest yesterday were wrongly labeled as Anti-Govt on BBC News. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-14091367)They cannot be more wrong.

All the people ask for is the freedom of speech.

Sadly, our country does not promote that.

In my opinion, we have first world educated citizens but we are trapped in a third world country.

When will it all change?

MTV WORLD STAGE 2011 - What are you waiting for?!

This year is considered my first official year back in Malaysia after living in UK for 3 years.

So many things have happened since then!

I went for Michael Buble concert.

I went for Maroon 5's concert.

And perhaps the more uneventful Hot Air Balloon Festival at Putrajaya which I actually enjoyed myself since I missed all the Hot Air Balloon Festivals in Bristol.

And we are only half way through 2011.

Guess what July alone have installed for me?!

It’s back! This is the 3rd year running that Xpax is bringing you MTV World Stage. In the past 2 years, MTV World Stage has given nothing but pure entertainment pleasure with the top acts coming to perform on Malaysian soil.

For this year’s edition, MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia will be bringing international rock outfit, 30 Seconds to Mars; new international sensation, Neon Trees; Korean pop group, Beast; and Malaysia’s very own groundbreaking act, Pop Shuvit.

30 Seconds to Mars is a rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1998. Fronted by singer/actor Jared Leto, the band has grown from strength to strength and have built a solid reputation for themselves.
To date, 30 Seconds to Mars have released three studio albums – 30 Seconds to Mars (2002); A Beautiful Lie (2005); This Is War (2009) and two extended plays – AOL Sessions Undercover (2007) and To the Edge of the Earth (2008).
Their latest album, This Is War was critically-acclaimed and established the band’s name as a legitimate rock group with the ability to produce catchy hooks with meaningful lyrics. The band has won multiple awards, mostly coming from MTV itself.

Neon Trees is an alternative rock band from Provo, Utah. The band received nationwide exposure in late 2008 when they opened several North American tour dates for the rock band The Killers. Not long after, the band was signed by Mercury Records and released their first full length album, Habits, in 2010. Their first single "Animal" climbed to #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Alternative Rock Chart. The song was also performed by the cast of Glee in season two, giving them even more widespread acclaim.

What? Never heard of them before? They were played all the time in the radio!

Beast is a boy band from South Korea and is made up of six members, namely Yoon Doo Joon, Jang Hyun Seung, Yong Jun Hyung, Yang Yo Seob, Lee Gi Kwang and Son Dong Woon. The group was originally known as B2ST, an acronym for Boys 2 Search the Top but was later changed to BEAST (Boys of East Standing Tall). Their journey leading up to their debut was documented by MTV through “MTV B2ST”. BEAST’s first mini-album, Beast Is The B2ST, sold over 20,000 copies in 2009. Since then, they have released four more EP’s and one full length studio album. They have also won various awards and gained popularity all over the world.

Pop Shuvit is Malaysia’s and one of Asia's premiere Hip Hop Rock act that has won numerous awards in the music scene. They have also worked or performed with acts such as My Chemical Romance, The All American Rejects, The Wu Tang Clan, Zion I, Wes Borland and many more.
Pop Shuvit began making waves in the local music scene in late 2001. Comprising of Moots (vocals), JD (guitars), AJ (bass), Rudy (drums) and UNO (turntables), the band has had 4 successful releases under their belt and has garnered a steady fan base throughout Asia notably in Japan, Thailand and Singapore.
Their new album “The Cherry Blossom Love Affair” is expected to break new grounds and will be yet another hit for the group.

MICHAEL BUBLE CONCERT 2011!!!

While we're at the topic of concerts and music, I can't imagine a better time to slip it into this post.

YES! The Michael Buble concert I went this year!

I haven't got time to post it up then but when I finally found time, it's like old news already. Haha!

It was the most mind blowing concert I've ever been to!

Outfit of the day. Unlike other concerts, Michael Buble deserved a more classy casual outfit and I actually wore blue to suit the theme. The crowd were so different from Maroon 5's concert. Yuen and I literally just threw on a T-shirt, shorts and slippers for that one! Everyone at Michael Buble concert were so calm and collected throughout the entire show and the waiting period. Nice, isn't it?

The Finale! At the end, when the curtain's down, mic's off, he came out to silent the crowd and sang to us.

Green Lantern (Why is it Worth Watching)

I feel awfully lucky to be one of the first few to have watched this movie!

I made my appearance at the ticket counter last night! Haha! One of the very few occasions where I'm there early enough to hang out with Fresh before the movie! :)

Okay so what do I really think about this movie?

Let's start with Blake Lively. I think she looked gorgeous blonde or brunette. And she actually came across as quite funny in this movie. Looking at her hair, I just wished that mine would grow a little faster!

*Spoiler alert*

I think this is the only comic action movie that made sense. Remember how Lois Lane cannot recognize Clack Kent just because he wasn't wearing his glasses and got his hair gelled up in Superman? This is definitely not the case.

Despite the fact that I watched the movie right after work (all tired and shit) I actually found the beginning of the movie a little boring. I almost fell asleep and couldn't concentrate at all. And that made me restless.

There were parts of the movie which they attempted to make their audience laugh but I found the jokes slightly amateurish. Definitely not enough to make me laugh out loud. What a shame.

However, I think that it's absolutely worth watching because the concept of the Green Lantern's power is actually pretty cool. The power of imagination wtf.

The movie being PG13, made the movie slightly childish. Maybe that's because I'm so used to the brutal action movies produced these days. I was told off (exaggerating) by some of my friends when I mentioned childish because the movie was based on a comic after all. Haha! Stupid.

Fine.

Nonetheless, I believe I'll still be looking forward to watch the Part 2 of this movie. No one should miss out looking at Ryan Reynolds' packs anyway! Whee!

The most anticipated movie this summer.

I'm really looking forward to attend Nuffnang Screening for this movie! Excited max!

My favourite character in Transformers would definitely be Optimus Prime!

I still remember watching the first Transformers movie for 7 times just to see how they transform.

If I'm Optimus Prime I'd probably recruit all the vehicles I can find in this world to fight against the Decepticons with me.

The irony was that I was just talking to Maren about wanting to get a credit card and the next thing I know the UOB personnel approached me to sign up for it when we're queuing up to buy movie tickets in GSC. I not only get to sign up for a credit card so conveniently, they actually helped me to get my movie tickets as well!

Talk about great service! Woohoo!

Apparently once I get my card, I don't ever need to queue up for movies anymore. Just need to head straight to the Gold Class Express Lane.

How awesome is that?

Beautifulnara's Wedding : My First Malay Wedding Ever

I've never liked Chinese weddings. I've always wanted a quiet garden wedding where everyone just get together and celebrate my marriage rather than having tons of people I don't know attending my wedding and I had to pretend like I know who they were.

Yesterday was the first Malay wedding I've ever attended.

I thought it carries more values than just walking from table to table screaming YUM SENG. I hate YUM SENGS. YUM SENGS are the most annoying wedding activity in the world. Especially if it's a big ass 100 tables wedding.

Okay. No more complains.

Let's talk about Beautifulnara's wedding.

If you don't already know, he is one of the biggest entertainment blogger in Malaysia. Yet he's still so humble and he's such a sweetheart!

X-MEN : First Class (What Made It Worth Watching)

I think good looks in a guy does nothing for me. It's the personality that matters.

That being said, that guy gotta be pleasant looking la wtf.

James McAvoy = Yum + Sexy.

He played Professor X really well. Alongside with the wit, he made the character seemed pretty charming.

Charm. I like that in guys. And respect.

X-MEN : First Class was pretty awesome. It was intense in a good way (they did not overkill it with too much action) and it kept its audience engaged in the film throughout the movie.

Great storyline I must say though it's pretty predictable, in a good way.

A Must Watch!

In the movie, I was focusing a lot on Azazel. I thought he looked like someone I knew.

Honestly...

I think my honesty have sometimes led people to think I'm pretty blunt. Sucks huh? But I can't help it.

However, my honesty have gained me a lot of good friends and it has recently raised my happiness level.

I've never been happier. I'm not kidding. Like a smile is permanently fixated on my face.

It's not something I'm proud of but I used to be one of those stubborn kids who'd refuse to excel in something simply because I don't like doing it. And just focus on things I like and excel in it.

Sadly, I've grown up and I am still as stubborn. I can't promise about the excelling part but I think by doing something I like, I'd definitely try harder and would be much happier while doing so.

Contrary to what some may think, I'm not a quitter. I'm just really conscious about what I want and happiness is really the most important thing to me. Switching was awesome.

I probably am really lucky to be in an environment that I can express my feelings and it was heard.

That's super important to me!

I can now do what I like and I can't wait to start!

I really can't wait.

Tonight we went to Library at Avenue K for the Superheroes event.

The event was organised by Horeca School of Excellence (HSE).

HSE is a bartending school. I'm sure some of you might remember that I used to bartend in Bristol at Buddha Lounge about 2 1/2 years ago. I could never make all these fancy drinks or cocktails. I wished that I've learnt about HSE then and attend a course on Bartending. I'll get paid so much more if I could make fancy drinks (£15 an hour perhaps?!). Haha!

Tonight I get to mix some drinks again! This time guided by a bartender from HSE.

Disco Skated

I went to my dentist today. With no make up, in a cap and sunglasses.

Still, I was spotted by people I know.

They said they noticed me cos they were looking out for someone in a cap and sunglasses. WTF!

I've been upgraded to a thicker rubber band to pull back my buck teeth, means more pain for me.

My jaw felt so sore and my gums...

Not to mention, a few hundred bucks poorer.

Pay money for pain wtf.

Hung out in the office to work tonight instead of hitting the clubs. I love the office when the internet is not being a bitch. Night time is great.

Finished 70% of my deck.

Another 30% tomorrow. Gonna go skating with the Nuffies in the late afternoon.

Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides (What made it worth watching)

Don't mean to spoil it for you but if you haven't watched it you might want to read on.

I was lucky enough to be amongst the first few who've watched it during the screening, thanks to Nuffnang!

I actually enjoyed it a lot. Funnily, it was such a breath of fresh air that this time, there's no Keira Knightly or Orlando Bloom in the movie.

Penelope Cruz was surprisingly entertaining here. (I do not enjoy most of her movies).

To me, most of the scenes in the movie are not new but I think what made it different this time was the mermaid scene.

To me, that's the highlight of the whole movie. I was always fascinated by mermaids (no, not Disney's Little Mermaid). The whole scene on the mermaid was done really tastefully.

And of course full of surprises.

Okay I ain't gonna spoil it for you. Watch and you'll find out.

The whole reason of me blogging about this movie was probably because of her.

I found my favourite model. I swore I've seen her somewhere before when I was watching the movie.

She's not even the lead mermaid in the movie but I found her extremely beautiful and I like the fact that she's so weirdly beautiful. Almost like the Amanda Seyfried/Dakota Fanning kind of beautiful.

How I made that Fabulous Mother's Day Dinner : Happy Mother's Day

Just in case it was forgotten, let me remind you that I can be pretty domesticated too.

This dish was taught by my ex. But many agreed that I cooked it better. True story.

Even my mom loved it. She went for seconds and that is rare.

Okay, it's pretty easy.

Ingredients:

Shredded Cheese
2 Breast Fillet
1 can of Pineapple in Syrup
Pork Bacon
Asparagus

Step 1:
Slice chicken fillet in to smaller pieces.

Step 2:
Stuff cheese on the chicken fillet and wrap bacon around each chicken fillet.

Step 3:
Place pieces of pineapple onto chicken and drown the chicken in the pineapple syrup.

Step 4:
Pop tray into oven. Temperature 200 degrees Celsius for 20 mins.

Step 5:
While waiting, pop Asparagus in boiling salted water for 10 mins.

Step 6:
All ready!

I actually enjoy cooking a lot and this meal was prepared in less than an hour. It's really delicious and healthy too. No oil and no flavouring at all.

My mother enjoyed it.
